Yes, it is true that 1 Million Years Ago, something Mysterious changed Human Brain that gave us Intelligence.Katie Pollard, a computational biologist, focused on how the DNA in human cells folds in the nucleus found a special part of human DNA that makes our species unique compared to other animals, especially chimpanzees and bonobos. There are certain regions of DNA that evolution typically leaves unchanged over millions of years, like treasured family recipes passed down through generations. Most mammals share these unchanged DNA sequences. However, humans are an exception because, over a relatively short period of evolutionary time, some of these DNA sequences were altered. These altered regions are called “human accelerated regions” (HARs). Scientists believe that HARs might be responsible for some of the traits that make humans different from other animals, such as our intelligence and social skills. The study of these HARs began nearly two decades ago when scientists compared the DNA of humans and chimpanzees. The researchers found that the structure of human DNA is different from that of other primates like chimpanzees. This difference in DNA folding could have led to certain genes in HARs becoming linked to new genes, changing the way they function. The team also looked at the DNA of 241 different mammal species and identified 312 HARs. They found that around 30% of these HARs are located in parts of DNA that have been structurally altered in humans compared to other primates. They also discovered that these regions are rich in genes responsible for human traits like intelligence, memory, and social skills. Many HARs are involved in brain development, especially in forming pathways related to higher cognitive functions.
